Governance Codes and Laws
The Governance Codes and Laws of each participating Nation form the tenants that guide the Strategic Plan of the First Nation Collegiate. It is based on a shared vision and dream for the advancement of education within the Nation as determined by the people of the Nation. The Nation’s Leadership will act to share meaningful information to its members on the direction education will head within the Nation upon consideration of the collective interests and concerns of Membership.
Sustainable Resource Revenues
With an inherent and legal right to fully benefit from sustainable resource revenues sourced through educational processes; every First Nation Chief and Council can create opportunities for their First Nation Membership by regulating and participating in the development of education opportunities that leverage economic benefit to the Nation through the First Nation Collegiate. As Sovereign Nations, each First Nation has jurisdiction and authority to exercise their inherent right of Self Governance and First Nation control over First Nation Education.
Expanding Laws and Authority
To fulfill the vision for this, Leadership will expand their laws to assume jurisdiction and authority over education. New vision, priorities, and mandates which come about from being part of this project will benefit every First Nation’s citizens. The operational plan will be fully transparent, and its results and reports will be fully shared with participating First Nations. Further, the Strategic Plan will culturally align with the anchors of Nation Laws and/or Governance Codes as founded on each Nation’s history, culture, traditions, values, and vision. These traditional systems will continue to be part of the operational plan and survive systemically throughout the growth of the First Nation Collegiate.
Productive Working Relationships
Developing productive working relationships with other First Nations is a key feature of the operational plan. This ensures that all parties to an agreement benefit in multiple ways through the collaboratively structured operational plan that assures Sovereign Inherent Right and Treaty for all stakeholders of the First Nation Collegiate. With this in mind, the operational plan has been built to allow all Nations desirous of taking control of their education frameworks to do so in a manner that is immediate, reliable, just, and fair to all participating First Nations.
